How we work
Good journalism doesn't happen by accident. Every story we publish goes through a process designed to keep our readers informed accurately and quickly.
Get in touchFrom tip to published story
Here's how a story makes it to your screen.
Story discovery
We monitor community events, attend council meetings, and receive tips from readers. Our editorial team tracks what matters to Calgary and neighboring communities daily.
Research and verification
Every claim gets checked. We contact sources directly, review public records, and cross-reference information before anything goes to draft.
Writing and editing
Our journalists write with clarity in mind. Then editors review for accuracy, fairness, and readability. Sometimes stories need another round. That's fine.
Publication
Once approved, stories go live on the portal. We categorize them properly so readers can find political news, cultural events, or sports coverage easily.
Follow-up coverage
Stories don't end at publication. We track developments on ongoing issues — council decisions, incident investigations, community initiatives — and update readers as things evolve.
What sets us apart
Regional news done right takes commitment.
Local focus
We cover Calgary and surrounding communities specifically. Not national wire stories repackaged. Actual local reporting on issues that affect your neighborhood.
Source transparency
When we cite information, we tell you where it came from. Public records, named officials, community members who agreed to speak. You know what you're reading.
Corrections published openly
Mistakes happen in journalism. When they do, we correct them publicly and clearly. No quiet edits.
Broad topic coverage
Politics, economy, culture, sports, science, international events relevant to our region. One portal for the news categories that matter to daily life here.
Regular publishing schedule
Our team works Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 8 PM. Breaking local news gets published as it develops. Readers can expect consistent updates throughout the week.
Community accessibility
Questions about a story? Want to suggest coverage? Readers can reach us directly at [email protected] or by phone. We're part of this community too.
